is a Dutch NGO that has been established in 2007 for the protection of the chimpanzee in West Africa, in memory of David Goedmakers.
When David was 10 years old he visited the Boé, a remote, pristine area in south-east Guinea Bissau with his parents. He saw chimpanzees and even tried out one of their nests.
In this way, his parents announced the establishment of the Foundation Chimbo:
“We miss David enormously, but he has to miss his whole future. We want to give him a kind of future by realizing a project in his memory that combines his love for people and his love for nature.”
Chimbo gives the chimpanzees of West Africa a future on David’s behalf.
